Shotgun Tidbits

Here are some of the hot topics going on right now, and my “short” take on each.

Casey Anthony Trial:
Not guilty.  State did not make it’s case.  Thank God for the United States Constitution.

Mexican National to be put to death in Texas:
I am not a fan of the death penalty for anyone.  And there is a case to be made about international                 law.

NBA and NFL lockouts:
Good, I like college sports just fine.

Texas Legislature:
A.       Overall good job.
B.      Sanctuary Cities Bill:  Much more on this later, but do you remember our Laredo Police Chief stating that Laredo did not support the reporting of illegal immigrants to CBP because it would harm the relationship of illegals and the police department.  Well in the Laredo Morning Times, the LPD turned two illegals over to Border Patrol after traffic stops…..WAZUP CHIEF?

From LMT 762011:
Lots of tickets
Meanwhile, police officers
were kept busy with the holiday
celebration. Investigator
Joe E. Baeza, Laredo Police
Department spokesman, said
officers arrested eight drunk
drivers, gave out about 100 citations
for traffic violations
and turned over two people to
U.S Border Patrol agents.

So, how did the police know they were illegal?  Did they ask them about their immigration status heaven forbid?  So, politically it is wrong and racist for police to ask about immigration status, but OK in real practice as long it is not a Republican bill.  Is that how it works?   Help me understand this please.
